I am new to researching electric vehicles. I caught something on the Discovery Channel that was testing which was faster...gas or electric/hybrid. It was found that initially, electric was fastest.

What is everyone's thoughts on all electric cars and electric odor cycles, such as the zero motorcycle versus hybrid/gas. I can't post a link, but if you're interested, google zero motorcycles

The major thing I like is that with the motorcycle, you can just plug it in a regular 110 outlet

I'm sure electric still hasn't caught on much yet, but will be happy when it does. I'd love to be able to have a motorcycle that I can charge overnight with my regular outlet. The difference from gas to the electricity it takes to charge it has to be better. Especially when gas is almost $4 a gallon!

actually roadburner you can sell cars with both gas and electric engines

that is what a hybrid is and they do have them here

just because the dealers where you are choose not to sell a hybrid does not mean it is illegal to sell - it just means they do not think their customers will buy it so why spend money to put it on the lot

Electricity can be made from a lot of sources.. Not limited to just oil. Which include coal, oil, natural gas, nuclear, solar, and wind. Albeit solar and wind are crappy, but a good solar system on a house is a decent solution for an individual family.. That being said electric motorcycles are gaining traction in Europe. You cannot even sell an electric car with a gas engine in America so I wouldn't expect them to come here anytime soon if ever. Gas will be cheap and plentiful forever!

---And besides, they still use oil to generate the electricity for the motorcycle battery

My big dislikes on electric vehicles is the range of travel. My dislikes on hybrids are they are 2 to 1/2 more expensive than there counter parts.

I have not seen an electric motorcycle but the problem with them I think would be the same as any motorcycle. They can be dangerous because of other traffic and more so if the cycle is under powered. Range would be an issue as well. I looked at the zero motorcycle that you mentioned. The company boasts of 114 miles range which sounds impressive but I have yet to see any of those estimates turn out to be true under anything but ideal conditions. For me I would take a pass.
