I have not noticed a problem on my computer, however, when one has millions of GasBuddies visiting the site each day, it would not be surprising that the equipment got strained during busy times.

"That's the beauty of dealing with people who use Windows: 99 out of 100 are infected with at least one virus. If the computer has been in use for more than a year, you are pretty much guaranteed to be infected."
We are going back to that again are we? Telling people you don't know that computers you have never seen in different areas of the continent are infected, all at the same time, with the same malware, even if you haven't a clue whether they are running Windows, Mac, Linux, or whatever? That was your standard answer for a long time. You are back to being incapable of recognizing that, if you can figure out how to deal with a virus, or trojan, or other malware, that other people in the world, even if they do run across an infection that gets past their protection, can figure it out as well.
Now it may definitely be possible for 99 out of 100 computers on the internet with no firewall or anti-virus programmes to get infected, but that is far from 99 out of 100 of ALL Windows computers. Panda reports that some 50% of computers scanned with their free on-line service had infections of various types. Thailand, China, Taiwan, Russia and Turkey occupy the top positions in the ranking of countries with the largest number of infections (over 50 percent of scanned computers infected with malware). Note neither Canada or the US rank that badly. And remember, these were people that recognized problems and were dealing with them. A survey conducted by AOL found that 20% of users had infections of various types. I submit that the average user of AOL is less computer savvy than the average user who posts anything computer-related in our forums, but, even so, those 20%, who are over-confident people not using firewalls or AV programs, are a FAR cry from 99%. Rare is the Windows computer that has NEVER been exposed to malware, however, that, in no way equates to 99% of Windows systems being infected. Blocked malware is not an infection. A found and removed Trojan Downloader is not an infection. Truth be told, somewhere north of 99% of all "infections" found by AV programmes are tracking cookies. Please don't presume we are all dummies with no idea what updated AV programmes, and updated firewalls, etc are for, and what their capabilities and limitations may be.

None of the Windows machines I administer are infected, and I can't remember the last time one of them caught a virus. The vast majority of them have been running for well over a year, many for 5 years or more. But then, systems and network administration is one of the things I do, and I'm good at it.
I'd also add that the rate of infection you are reporting seems a bit high even for the general population. My personal clients' PCs are by and large virus free, and it is rare that one of them gets infected.

99 times out of 100, that is what has been the solution for my clients.

Who says it was a server problem? Could be some tube was clogged on the internets. Perhaps an issue with the service providing the advertising.

Not all regions use the same server. You should know that by now. If 6 people had a problem only with GasBuddy at the same time and the problem went away at the same time, there is a zero percent probability that they all had a virus that only affected access to GasBuddy and went away on its own.

Or you could have just followed the conversation and realized there was indeed a problem. You just weren't logged in at the time of the problem.

Yesterday morning (early) there WAS a problem with the system, of a sort I hadn't seen before. By later morning it had been fixed.

It was slow to load for me this morning, but seems fine now. Perhaps some maintenance or upgrades were being performed on the servers.

Classic! Six different people have problems and bytebug assumes it is a virus on their computers, not a site problem.

On my home site, it won't even load. Same thing with other home sites I have tried. The news stories on this main site don't work either.
