Let's make something clear. Or at least clear to me and many other long time Gas Buddy members.
"Buy no gas on" this date or that date, is not a boycott. "Buy no gas on" a certain date is the same as buying your next loaf of bread, while you still have some, a day sooner or a day later than you normally would. If you want to boycott, go ahead, but boycott by taking some action that affects you, such as not using gas on a day you normally would use gas. If you're still driving on your boycott day, what have you done?
Said another way: Not that many years ago, most gas stations were closed on Sundays. They didn't go out of business by not selling gas on Sundays; people simply bought gas on the Saturday before or the Monday after the day the gas station was closed. Relatively few people buy gas on Christmas Day; that's no different than calling for a boycott (your word) by saying "No one should buy gas on Christmas Day". Nothing changed because gas stations didn't sell much gas on Christmas Day.
All that needs to happen, if I was the oil industry and you called a boycott calling us to not buy gas one specific day, is for the gas stations to take a day off, close for the day, and spend time doing things they want.
Sorry, but if you want to make change, you don't use the product. You make a sacrifice and you don't use the product. You tell the oil industry that you refuse to support them, and you're doing something different. But so far it doesn't appear that many people here want to make a sacrifice; it's easier to should "Don't buy gas on one specific day..."

Road4Runner: Boycotts do not work. Unless of course you sing together in harmony after banding together. Anyway don't forget to return and let us know how things went.

Never mind the negative wining here about whom has the control. We gas buddies can band together and, say take that April 15 th day stick together, buy no gas in Canada or the United States. PEOPLE can stand solid with good leadership. I implore and encourage each and every GAS BUDDY on this site to take this April 15 th Boycott at the pumps. Every able-bodied seniors can go the extra mile by choosing to walk on the 15th .. it would be great we could even meet a new friend on our enjoyable stroll to the local bank, grocery store, library or beach. There ye have it my wonderful gas buddies keep your chins up .. life is good, together it's even better .. have a Blessed Easter and enjoy the sunshine!!

You can't boycot EVERY gasoline company, nor do it for a GREAT length of time. Just boycott the non-american companies. But as I've stated before in these forums - you'd be LUCKY if you could get a VILLAGE of people with enough solidarity to accomplish ANY boycott.
