Refineries shutting down yet we are exporting more fuel than ever. It is not about the supply or the demand.

As gas prices rise, no relief in sight at the pump and Big oil is selling fuel and natural gas on the world market for higher prices. There will be NO price reduction for the cost of fuel or natural gas IN the US. Barry will support natural gas and oil production for sale on the world market to pay for his ‘spending gone wild’ addiction. The US ‘oil and natural gas resources’ belong to the citizens of this country and are to be used by those same citizens! Speculators, manipulators and the banks continue to unfairly and unjustly make the driving public pay higher prices at the pump for their benefit. Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost, if possible. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! 12/22/2012!

Politicians and their double-speak; they state they want a strong economy for the good of their nation. Our respective economies will only become strong, when and if our gov'ts in the west take the bull by the horns and lower the cost of energy. Energy is what will fuel any economic recovery. In all democracies, they are supposed to be the voice of people. Unfortunately, over time, democracy has succumbed into a fight between parties to be/have power, at the expense of the people they are supposed to represent. Yet, their respective war chests that fund their fight for power is bought and paid for by the corporations; corporations donations, that require immediate beneficial decisions; generally those decisions are not beneficial for the people. Democracy, should not be allowed to be bought and paid for the the elitist few.

Closing refineries is just another way to lower supplies and increase profits. Refineries can be updated and old equipment replaced with their record profits. Or the govt tax subsidies could pay for the work. Who is big oil trying to fool?

High crude prices are hurting the refiners because they can't sell all the byproducts at increased prices. And gasoline won't support the difference, either...

There is NO WAY they are not making money refining with prices this high.
So what is really going on? They are reducing capacity so they can say there are fuel shortages when demand goes up in summer, and (following the law of supply and demand) then raise prices astronomically.
It already looked like gas was going to hit $5 a gallon this year. However, with these changes, it is clear that the big oil companies are hoping to hit $10 a gallon.
That right, while most businesses are scraping by with 1% profit margins, big oil is unsatisfied with 15% profit margins and are colluding to do all they can to push profits up to 30% or even 50% if they can get it.
They expect the US wants to maintain capitalism and free markets. What they forget is that when they conspire to set prices it is no longer a free market, and is illegal in the US. The most likely course of action is for the oil-gasoline-fuel industry to be declared a utility and then be regulated like utilities have been regulated in the past. That is a governing board is created who monitors the industry closely and has powers to change prices and business practices at any and all companies in the industry. The number one component is deciding what is a reasonable profit margin. After that, companies may be declared that they are intentionally changing the way they make profit (such as too much drilling to reduce profit), and forced to make due with lower prices.
Remember, if that happens, they did it to themselves. They are capable of reading history and comparing what they do today to monopolistic practices in the past.
Best part: they can't move production overseas to reduce costs.
