China has seen the writing on the wall, re: oil production. They are flying around on business class tickets making handshake deals with oil producters/exporters. Meanwhile, we Americans fight and bicker amongst each other about stupid shit that has nothing to do with moving our country forward. Not only are we not doing anything as citizens, but our "leadership" is also compromised. Our Congress can't agree on anything of substance and are bought and paid for by corporate sponsorships. Wall Street is too goddamned greedy to do their part in easing gas prices. And the president is vilified, hated, and undermined by half the population who think he's a Muslim imposter from Kenya (yes, I'm looking at you tomok). How the hell are we supposed to compete with the deadly logical and methodical way of the Chinese when we can't even get our own shit together? Speaking of China... The same people who hate Pres. Obama just love to shop at Wal-Mart. Obama is taking us into socialism yet these idiots will go right down to Wal-Mart and buy a new microwave oven or coffee maker, making communist China-supporting Wal-Mart the largest retailer in the U.S. while all the mom-and-pop businesses they killed are no longer supporting AMERICA and AMERICAN jobs. And one final thing. Oil extraction rates have been flat since mid-2004. That's 8 YEARS! EIGHT YEARS of flat production of crude oil. It's common knowledge, indeed a FACT, that all the cheap, easy oil is GONE! What we're left with is sludge, tar, and asphalt. And that crap doesn't work in most of the refineries in the U.S. that were designed to process LIGHT SWEET (the good) oil, not heaver, sour sludge, tar, or asphalt from "tar sands" and shale rock. We are in a state of peaking crude oil production, what has long been called the "bumpy plateau". Flat global oil production for 8 YEARS despite profits from high oil/gas prices. And without growth in oil production, THERE CAN BE NO ECONOMIC GROWTH. China is doing what anyone smart nation would do, making handshake deals like the one with Saudi Arabia for this refinery. We Americans, on the other hand, prefer to blast our way into other sovergeign nation's oil fields making enemies everywhere and costing us the lives of our soldiers, the lives of millions of innocent brown people, and our nation's reputation and treasure. America is a pathetic, petulant little child compared to the Chinese and it's our own damned fault. So quit your whining and suck it. We made our own bed and now we will surely lie in it.

Something the US has no clue what to do. All Barry can do is spend taxpayer money and support natural gas and oil production for sale on the world market to pay for his ‘spending gone wild’ addiction. OMG=BMG! Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost, if possible. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! 12/22/2012!

Rhetoric, misinformation, urban myth/legends only falsehoods; don't just shoot something out there, hoping it will stick. Misinformation is only that; what's the point as you're just wasting valuable time, might as well do something else more constructive. 1. Canadian crude in predominately found in Alberta & Saskatchewan; some is refined there. All Canadian pipelines flow south into the U.S; with one terminating in Sarnia ON.; there are no Canadian pipelines into eastern Canada. All crude into eastern Cdn. refineries are from off-shore (ie Venezuela, N. Sea, Saudi Arabia etc). I know of no EXXON pipeline into Canada for other international markets; or being shipped back into U.S. (makes no sense for needless round trips). N. American Pipelines Including Canadian MAP 2. Reports of American Oil being shipped off-shore for more profit vice remaining in U.S or even N. America, makes no sense as gulf coasts refineries have excess refining capacity. Eastern U.S. refineries are being shut down due to myriad of reasons, age, lack of crude, prohibitive production costs, etc. Not sure I buy all those reasons; however that's the reasons given. Saudi Arabia is planning to ship massive petroleum to the U.S gulf coast in an effort to get energy prices down. IF America is allegedly shipping off-shore; then why is Arabia shipping mass amounts to America. The oil price that launched a wall of ships (previously posted on GasBuddy) Since oil was discovered, America (lower 48)has been pumping from the ground its liquid gold, its conceivable that what oil remains will only be recovered with fracking; that's why fracking been introduced. Fracking is new and with unknown consequences. The Republican, Democrat fighting is just that fighting for control of the prize. If the Republicans get in, I would be very surprised if anything changes. Your only kidding yourself if you think things will change. Oil is a nonrenewable commodity that will eventually run out; oil industry knows this and are out to get as much as they can now. There has been other misinformation, however I am tired and can't think on any others at the moment. C'mon plse stick with facts; proven from multiple sources. The refinery is not being built in China "China's latest deal is simply "the largest expansion by any oil company in the world", and as a result, Sinopec's deal earlier this year with Saudi oil giant Aramco will allow a major oil refinery to become operational in the Red Sea port of Yanbu by 2014. The $8.5 billion joint venture, which covers an area of about 5.2 million square meters, is already under construction. It will process 400,000 barrels of heavy crude oil per day. Aramco will hold a 62.5 percent stake in the plant while Sinopec will own the remaining 37.5 percent."

The US takes the high road! There must be a fair compromise here somewhere.

Haven't been upgrading on a regular basis and finally need to shut them down to upgrade to make the required regulations of the EPA and government regulators!!

We need these refineries to get manufacturing back in America. We need their products and the jobs that come with them.

We need to bring manufacturing jobs back and loosen legislation over building refineries. Can't compete with a Socialist government with some intelligence running it. China is looking ahead and not resting on their laurels. We need to have DC get their head out of the sand.
