Yep - The Euro socialists will try to steal from the rich countries to subsidize the rest. Crap like this will eventually lead to the dissolution of the EU.
Of course this is the same approach taken by our current socialist prez. He is using the "class warfare" approach to achieve same.
I'm waiting for when Texas exercises its Constitutional right to exit the USA. If ol' Obozo keeps up this trend of stealing from the rich, Texas will certainly give it more consideration. Maybe I need to move back to Texas.
For now, vote Nov 6 for regime change.

. The EU already has 2 to 3 times the amount of nuclear energy we have. When we stopped building they started to build heavily!
Go old Dumbocrats, EPA, and DOE have harmed this country more then you can even remotely imagine! No new Refineries since 1979, not a single nuclear reactor started since 1974 and out of all that were started after 1973 not a single one has been finished!
It time to finish ALL our projects and start 100 of the new style minis that use old style reactor waste as their fuel and only need to have a new core every 100 years or so (and the removed core is safe as its all depleted waste).

The arguments over fossil fuels versus nuclear seem to me like the difference between living your life eating junk food (fossil fuel) or eating farm-fresh food (nuclear). Eating junk food may be easier, but the long-term effects are disastrous. Meanwhile, eating farm-fresh is clearly better for our overall health. Problem is, you can't say when the next e. coli breakout will occur.
Using fossil fuels, I believe, will leave us with a worse off world. Not only is there a constant stream of contaminants in our air, soil, and water, there are issues with safe disposal and retention of waste from coal plants. Or did we already forget about the coal-ash spill a couple years back? Environmental devastation for that area, and untold long-term damage.
Maybe there is more to the discussion. I think it can be approached from a more comprehensive approach. We need to continue talking about including wind, solar, and burning our waste (that solves two problems at once!).

The way I see it, nuclear power can be safe, but very expensive, when done right. There are definately going to be some big losers if the EU agrees to the subsidies, the tax payers taking the biggest hit.

Nuclear is the only thing that provides enough bang for the buck that could ever hope to replace fossil fuels for electrical production. However, why do they need a subsidy?

Nuclear power works, if you do not build in near the ocean, or on a major tectonic fault line.
