Feliz Natal/Gezuar Krishlindjen/Merry Christmas! Slightly early, but I better start now and get as many as possible out of all of the people I'd like to wish it to! Take care!

Kiitos/Mahalo/Thank you on sending that back. It'll take you some time to read through those topics, and the Suburban is the best one to read through as you'll see what they gained from what they did. If I remember correctly, it was in the neighborhood of about a 25 to 40% improvement. They didn't do everything they could have and could have gotten more bang for the buck had they spent the money differently. Do you use any aftermarket products?

Underemployed, that's how it is for me and why I'm homeless these days; and for the last 1 and 1/2 years. Anyhow, go to the forums, go to the Fuel Economy forums specifically. Read through them from time to time. Especially read through the ones back in 2006 through late 2008 even though they're closed topics as some of them will have some useful information for you. In addition to that, I'm sending you a message via the mailbox as not everything will post well here to your whiteboard. There are people getting 24 to 30 mpg from their Suburbans, and since you have a slightly lighter vehicle, you can do better than that.

By-the-way, hope you, your family and friends had a good Thanksgiving. Sorry I couldn't get to you to wish that ahead of time.

by LanguageMan1  Dec 08, 2010

Hopefully, this weekend I'll be able to send you some information, and refer you to a couple of the topics and posting of the past I and others did, so as not to spend all my time rewriting the same information to you. I'll probably compose a list that I give out for free, but I can't do everything for free as I'd like to make some extra money helping others to get that increased mileage and fuel efficiency as I know that others do. I can use it more than most of them as well. TTYL!

"Options are great, as long as they are legit and not just marketing ploys. If you read this article, the mpg for the gas VW is 23, diesel is 28 and the hybrid is _25 MPG_. Is this really a savings? I think not. There are some options out there that are real, but make sure you use your BEST muscle (your brain) before you flex your LOUDEST muscle (your dollar)! Don't let anyone else do your thinking for you! " Not a bad post! As it is, like I've posted there and elsewhere, don't wait on the government or automakers, do it yourself to make something run on the alternatives, and both gasoline and diesel engines can! Hydrogen, propane, natural gas, etc., they can run on them. I'll be back tomorrow when I have more time too! Gotta run!

Oh, yeah, you can also check out the fuel economy forums here. I and others have given out information there.

by LanguageMan1  Nov 17, 2010

I will give you some information, when I have the time. It all depends on how much you can spend and what you can do yourself. There aren't any websites that I know of that'll show you half of what you can do. For one, check out my gas savings tips, then I'll send more this weekend.

by LanguageMan1  Nov 14, 2010

You want to get that up past 25 mpg? At least on the highway? What do you get on the highway right now? How many miles to the gallon would you like to get? 25, 30 or more? Depending on the money you have to spend, the time you have to invest in doing the work yourself [you'd pay more for others to do it but you'd be providing a job(s)] and what you'd like, I can help you to get it up past 30 and even past 35 mpg. Lots of time, lots of work, and obviously lots of money. A guy with a Ford F150 around here gets 42 mpg on the highway, while towing about 1,500 lbs of equipment in a trailer, and that's not even with better aerodynamics! A guy out west has a Dodge Ram Cummins diesel that gets over 50 mpg on the highway; of course, he's spent over $35k on the truck with modifications. Could probably get more still!

"Is this news really shocking? SHOULD it be shocking? Since the Viet Nam fiasco (in which our military personnel suffered the most), the gov't has been spinning, slanting, twisting, reducing, erasing and flat out falsifying information that gets released to the public. I'm not surprised by this information. In fact, if GM ever gets to be it's own entity again (doubtful), I will not purchase a new or used GM vehicle of any sort. I'm tired of this game, and rather than crying about needing more laws to protect us, I will flex the muscle I have, and that is my dollar." Good posting! Good shows, NUMB3RS, Heroes! Join the underemployed crowd; at least temporarily. Good gas saving tips too! Ever improve the fuel economy of the vehicles you've owned by 20% or more? I'm betting you have! I've done it since I was a kid!
