AFPM Applauds Actions by Congress to Advance Keystone XL Pipeline

PR Newswire -- American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers President Charles T. Drevna today welcomed passage of the North American Energy Access Act by the House Energy and Commerce Committee in a 33-20 vote.

Drevna continued: "Although American refineries would use nearly all of the oil transported by the Keystone XL pipeline to manufacture fuels and other products for American consumers and businesses, it would also allow them to continue to export a portion of their products. For the first time in more than 60 years, the United States is a net exporter and the Keystone XL pipeline will help our nation maintain this position, as well as create jobs for American workers, lower the trade deficit and increase American tax revenues."

Barry could care less about the AFPM. The US oil and natural gas resources that belong to the citizens of this country and are to be used by those same citizens! Barry will support natural gas and oil production to pay for his ‘spending gone wild’ addiction. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! 12/22/2012!

Refineries with direct port facilities: Corpus Christi (412,000 bpd) 163,300 - Citgo (Venezuelian owned) 106,700 - Flint Hills (U.S. owned) 142,000 - Valero (U.S. owned) Texas City (689,000 bdp) 475,000 - British Petroleum (British owned) 214,000 - Valero (U.S. owned) Port Arthur (745,500 bpd) 285,000 - Motiva (Dutch/Saudi owned) 173,500 - Total (French owned) 287,000 - Valero (U.S. owned) These Texas refineries total 1,846,500 bpd Additional Texas refineries with close access to port facilities: Baytown (Houston) (887,640) 560,640 - ExxonMobil (U.S. owned) 327,000 - Shell (Dutch owned) Beaumount (Port Arthur) (344,500) 344,500 - ExxonMobil (U.S. owned) These Texas refineries total (1,232,140 bpd) So, until we start adding refineries from further inland in Texas, or refineries facilities in Louisiana, the total is only 3,078,640 bpd - or essentially all of the daily exports as reported in the EIA data. It is likely that other refineries along the Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama Gulf coast are contributing, as well as others further inland in Texas. Citgo has a 429,500 bpd refinery in Lake Charles Louisiana, and ConocoPhillips has a 247,000 bpd refinery along the Mississippi River, south of New Orleans. Most of the refineries along the Texas Gulf coast, are in the 200,000 bpd class. Given that they're exporting nearly 3 million barrels per day (2.981 as of the last EIA data), that's the equivalent output of 15 200,000bpd refineries. I'll look up some information, and provide a better reference.

The Port Arthur and Houston port facilities are existing facilities that have been in place for years, as are the refineries that have used these same ports to off-load and on-load crude oil and various crude oil products for decades. The refineries are already refining crude oil at these facilities, so no NEW jobs will be created. The refineries are already exporting via these ports, so no NEW jobs will be created. These are automated processes, there is no massive work-force required to operate the computers that run the automated processes. Your jobs, are even bigger pipe dreams than the ones TransCanada claim will be created. Amazing.

If you remember a back a couple of month ago, some guy advised the Secretary of State (Mrs. Clinton)that more studies were needed before it could be approved. The State Department is involved because of the Borders. WAYYYYY to much government. At least they are trying to pass something that will help with jobs. Obama keeps talking about all the Jobs he has created. But were are all these jobs, I don't know of anyone that got one. And I haven't heard of any stories about all these new jobs.. Build the Pipeline..

Just how recently was it stated that the Keystone XL pipeline was not going to be used to move crude oil to the Gulf coast, where it would be exported? Like up to the time of the press releases? And it does not matter whether they're exporting crude oil, or refined crude oil products, it will STILL have the affect of increasing our dependence on foreign crude oil. And at the same time the Gulf coast refiners have been exporting 1 MILLION BARRELS PER DAY of distillate fuel and nearly 3 MILLION BARRELS PER DAY of crude oil and refined products. Distillate fuel is diesel fuel and home heating oil. The same diesel fuel that continues to run at a 30- to 50-cent-per-gallon premium above gasoline. And for those of you paying for home heating oil this winter, has your cost dropped this year compared to previous winters - since we now have all this excess distillate fuel that we can export a MILLION BARRELS PER DAY? Just as the "Cushing Link" is little more than an industry contrivied plan (better known as collusion) to push the price of Canadian heavy crude higher, the exportation of refined products is having the same affect on prices that Americans pay for all petroleum products, which in turn drives other prices higher that rely on those same refined products. Continuing with Drevna's statement: "... For the first time in more than 60 years, the United States is a net exporter and the Keystone XL pipeline will help our nation maintain this position, as well as create jobs for American workers, lower the trade deficit and increase American tax revenues." Again, it will NOT create American jobs. Roughly 90% of the pipeline construction will be accomplished by TransCanada employees and contractor crews that are already employed. The refineries are largely automated, so increasing the amount of crude oil refined will not increase the number of jobs. Furthermore, it will NOT increase tax revenue. The FOREIGN-OWNED refineries in the Port Arthur Free Trade Zone are exempt from taxes, tarriffs, and export duties, as per the Foreign Trade Zone Act of 1934. And as the increase in the pump-price continues to decrease demand for fuel, so will the gasoline and diesel fuel tax revenue decline. Any another claim is an outright lie. But it gets better: "... Today's vote marks an important step forward to enable American refineries and American workers to do more to serve consumers by manufacturing vital fuels and other products that make modern life possible," Drevna said. "By bringing 700,000 barrels of oil each day to U.S. refineries on the Gulf Coast from oil fields in Canada, North Dakota and Montana, the Keystone XL pipeline will enhance America's national, economic and energy security...." Not only does TransCanada intend to transport Canadian heavy crude oil to the Gulf coast for refining and export, IT PLANS TO DO THE SAME WITH THE AMERICAN CRUDE OIL NOW BEING PRODUCED IN NORTH DAKOTA AND MONTANA. This is why TransCanada is pushing so hard for the completion of Phase IV of the Keystone XL plan. That's right, these greedy bastards intend to do the same thing with OUR American crude oil, laughing all the way to the bank while they do it TAX FREE. This WILL cost American jobs. Currently, crude oil from the Bakken formation is being transported to market via rail, just like coal for power generation is transported out of this region. Transferring the movement of the Bakken crude oil from American-owned rail, to Canadian-owned pipeline, will take away jobs, tax revenue, and corporate profits. Remember the "Big sucking sound"? That's the Keystone XL, sucking the life out of the American economy... ."Brawndo! It's got electrolytes. It's got what plants need...!"
