And if they really wanted to compare truthfully, they should also look at how "clean" oil is with all the massive spills and destruction that goes with it...

This is a surprise to some people, and the cold, hard truth to the environmentalists who choose to knowingly ignore it.

EV's need electricity in order to operate and charge the vehicle storage battery, how that electricity is produced can be a problem. The electricity can come from: coal, natural gas, nuclear, hydro or renewable sources. And, these electrical sources do not pollute or emit visible smoke or particles either? Installing solar panels or wind turbines on the roof can help reduce the cost of electricity supplied by the local utility. A site survey of the local installation area will determine if solar panels or wind turbines can be worthwhile. Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost, if possible! The price of fuel at the pump is too high! 12/22/2012!

Most of their power comes from coal fired power plants.

Thanks to CA energy policies we aren't polluting with our Leafs and Hybrids electrics/Prius'. Rest of country needs LPG/CNG brought in and adapted like the taxi industry in many developed countries. Often seen in British commonwealth like OZ and N.Z. We needed that BIG 2 dome ship from Australia but the Malibu Do-good/Tree-huggers like Pierc Brosnan rallied the big $ of Malibu because the ships would have cruised many miles out to sea but would have been visible unloading at sea pipeling to Pt. Mcgu. Cittomg off our noses...

Most of the Granite State's electricity is from coal or nuclear plants. With a modicum from wood or water...

I agree. In the northwest we get most of the electricity via hydroelectric power.

melvindale you are completely out of touch. Solar can't replace anything. The amount of power obtained from solar is minute, compared to the need. Solar roof panels on houses produce less than 20% of the total usage for the house. Coal is popular because it produces a great deal of electricity for a small amount of effort and cost. If we followed your suggestions, we'd all be in the dark.

Electric Vehicles are a bad idea.
Can you imagine how much electric would cost us if everyone needed it for their vehicles?
