Gasoline prices expected to fall to $3.25 a gallon before holiday

TribLive -- If you're lucky enough to live in some parts of the United States, you may see gas pump prices fall to about $3.25 a gallon or less in the next week or two. Even West Coast drivers should get some relief from prices that are still above $4 a gallon.

Retail gasoline prices dropped by a penny to a national average of $3.71 per gallon on Friday. That's 22 cents less than the high of $3.94 per gallon reached in early April. Lower oil prices are the main reason. Weaker demand is also helping reduce prices, as consumers watch their spending in the sluggish economic recovery.

Motorists on the West Coast, in Illinois and New York pay the most for gas -- from $3.83 per gallon to $4.54 per gallon -- according to AAA, Wright Express and the Oil Price Information Service. The lowest prices, ...

it's Memorial Day now and prices are still around 3.40. So predictions were wrong at least for this area.

tomok: I agree, Pig Oil won't let the price drop so low that they don't make still huge profits.

I won't hold my breath. Regular has dropped around here, but diesel has stubbornly stayed. The gap (previously 25-30 cents) has now widened to over 50 cents at some stations.

Big oil will keep the price of fuel at the pump where they want it to be. $3.25/gallon or less before the holiday is like a dream that will not come true.
Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost, if possible!
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

That will be very nice. I'll have lots of company sharing the highways for my Memorial Day week trip. I expect to do about 1500 miles over the holiday, but I'm sure the traffic will be pretty light....yeah, sure it will!

I posted $3.26 for 3 stations today. So much for the $5 gas promised by the "hope for failure" cons.

Prices on the west coast are high because "someone" wants them to be high. Yes, one refinery had a fire months ago and the whole thing was taken off line, but the others are not operating at anywhere near capacity and storage capacity is at its peak. Give me a break. That is what happens when big oil has a monopoly.
