KSFY Exclusive: Oil Developers Eyeing South Dakota

KSFY -- For the last year-and-a-half, we have been reporting on what South Dakota state geologists believe is a large oil deposit in the northwest part of the state.
It's called the Three Forks Sanish; geologists say it is an off shoot of the huge Bakken oil formation which has led to an oil boom in North Dakota.
Since early 2011, state leaders in Pierre...up to and including Governor Daugaard...have been working to convince oil companies to take a chance and drill into the three forks deposit. To no avail. Until now.

It is the wish and the hope that could lead South Dakota into a billion dollar business.
In this remote part of northwest South Dakota, near the town of Buffalo, lies a potential gold mine:

He said, he would sign it if all the environmental issues were met or resolved. They weren't and he kept his word. I guess the writer wanted to make this a political issue for the oil companies that want to export our resources abroad.
